We have the option to move this and the other DOORS Forums under the umbrella of a group space with additional facilities. I would like to hear the views of the contributors.
First the downside: the forum id would change, but that is all, individual topic ids would remain as they are, and the functionality of the forum would be identical.
Now the positives: The forums would be part of a group which has a wiki, a blog and a files section.
The wiki can be used by this group to provide references to commonly used material, or answers to commonly asked questions. It is a wiki, most people will be familiar with the concept, the group edits the content to provide value.
The blog can be used by any of the group members to write an opinion piece to prompt dialog. Where the forum is for Q&A type exchanges, the blog is for more enduring topics, or more group conversation topics.
The files section can be used as needed.
Finally, the cost: I plan to include these forums (your opinions permitting), in a more generic Requirements Management community space. This space would include Rational Requirements Composer material, Rational DOORS Next Generation material, including migration issues and the choice between Rational DOORS and Rational DOORS Next Generation, and requirements management best practice.
If you want to continue using the forums in isolation then the only cost is the forum id change and nothing else need affect you.
If you want to widen the scope of your engagement then the larger space will be there.
I would move all four DOORS forums, or none at all. Affected forums are:
I have repeated this question in the other three forums to ensure that I catch all users, please answer in the Rational DOORS General Discussion thread so we can see the conversation in one place.
Thanks,
Hazel
